WHAT IS A KEY LEADER?
Key Leader Board members— are the influential community leaders who control resources and who support and oversee the Communities That Care effort, including securing needed resources for implementing the programs, policies and practices recommended by the Community Board as a result of the planning and assessment process.
Role of Key Leaders:
1. Commit to the process
2. Engage other key leaders
3. Allow employees/staff to attend CTC meetings
4. Educate the community about the CTC model
5. Hold the Community Board responsible
6. Build school support through the use of survey data collection
7. Provide access to community resources and information
8. Support the implementation of the Community Action Plan

KEY LEADER ORIENTATION (KLO)
New Key Leaders will be invited to attend a Key Leader Orientation (KLO). The purpose of KLO is to orient key stakeholders to the prevention science research base and the CTC process, to enlist ongoing support of key leaders for the CTC planning system, and to build a high-functioning and sustainable CTC prevention coalition. The target audience of the KLO is local officials and key stakeholders from all sectors of the community. KLO meeting date and time to be determined.
